Presbyterian Women Fall Gathering

Presbyterian Disaster Assistance

With Hurricane Harvey devastating South Eastern Texas and with Hurricane Irma’s damage to Florida we encourage individual and churches who wish to reach out to PDA.

PDA has a long been a witness to the healing love of Christ through caring for communities adversely affected by crisis and catastrophic events.

PDA continues to be in touch with presbytery leadership in New Covenant, Mission, and South Louisiana Presbyteries. National Response Teams are being deployed into the affected regions when it is safe to do so.

We will post more information on relief efforts for Hurricane Irma as we receive them.

For more information on how you can give click on the link below –
http://pda.pcusa.org/situation/tropical-storm-harvey/

Please designate gifts to DR000169-Harvey, you can give online HERE. Giving information (where to send checks, how to give via phone, etc.) can be found HERE.

If your church is talking about planning a mission trip to the affected areas please contact the presbytery office, there may be other individuals or churches who would like to travel with you.  presbynorth@comcast.net or 570-368-3906.

Thank you for your continued support and compassion for those in need.

Rev Dr William Knudsen

The Rev. Dr. Bill Knudsen leads a responsive reading during the Presbytery of Northumberland’s stated meeting that also served as the executive presbyter’s retirement ceremony.

To say that the Rev. Dr. Bill Knudsen took the path he thought he would or ended up where he planned couldn’t be further from the truth. After all, he had visions of joining the Navy as a chaplain and had little interest in a job opportunity as the executive presbyter at the Presbytery of Northumberland. However, God had different plans for Bill, and 14 years after accepting the call at Northumberland, which followed a 20-year career in the Army Reserves, Bill is retiring.

“It’s the right time to do it,” Bill said when asked about retirement. “I want to retire while I’m young enough to be able to still go out and enjoy life. I’m 67 years old and it gives me a lot more opportunity to settle into a new area, make new friends and still be young enough, active enough and healthy enough to enjoy retirement.” Continue reading
